“Couples therapy offers a safe place to start to learn how to connect and understand each other on a day-to-day basis. It isn’t just a last resort to save your marriage!”
Are you feeling stuck and frustrated in your relationship? Are you feeling like you lack intimacy, or that communicating with your partner is difficult?
It doesn’t have to be this way. By learning how to better understand yourself, your needs, your reactions, and those of your partner, you can learn how to communicate in a whole new way.
Together we can work to build a happy and healthy partnership that works for both of you. You have the opportunity to make a good relationship even better.
Couples therapy can help you to…
- Enhance your communication
- Develop deeper intimacy
- Resolve conflict more efficiently
- Heal sexual issues
For some, it is about working towards a more amicable divorce or separation.
What to Expect
In couples therapy sessions both partners generally participate together. Sometimes I will meet with each partner individually in order to get a full picture of what is going on in your relationship. This will be discussed together to make sure everyone is comfortable.
In some cases, both partners are not always excited about coming to couples counseling. That’s okay we can work with that! If this is the case for you, we will talk about the reluctance to participate in therapy and talk about the best way to proceed. This is a safe space where anything and everything can be talked about during your sessions.
Have you been struggling for a while before coming to therapy? It may be some time before we begin to see progress. We will work to understand the dynamics of your relationship and gain insight into what needs to happen to create the change you desire. Although you are welcome to discontinue treatment at any time, I encourage couples to make a six-week commitment when starting our work together.
Typically sessions are weekly in the beginning, although we will work together to find a frequency that fits your goals and budget.
Who I Work With
It is important to know that I don’t work with couples where one is a narcissist in the current relationship. If you are in that situation, I can offer you a referral.
However, many couples struggle because one person has experienced a narcissistic relationship in their life; maybe a sibling, family friend, boss, or a parental figure. If you find yourself in this situation, I want to tell you there is hope. You can navigate the challenges that come with such an experience to grow a happy and healthy relationship with your current partner.
Whatever the reason you’ve chosen to seek couples therapy, you are entering a space of connection and understanding that being a couple is one of the most sacred experiences in the journey of life.
Your relationship is important! Finding a therapist that fits your needs and style can mean the difference between therapy being successful or not.
For this reason, I invite you to schedule a free 25-minute consult over the phone, in my office, or over video, to find out if we are a good fit.
Couples Therapy Session Details
Sessions are typically 60 minutes long and cost $125 per session.
Acceptable forms of payment are cash, check, credit card or Health Savings Accounts (HSA).
I offer a limited number of sliding scale slots for those who may not be able to afford my services. Please inquire to see if openings are available.
Please note: Many people ask about insurance coverage. I have made a conscious choice not to get involved with insurance because I believe that the therapeutic relationship is between you and me. When using insurance, they can ask for your charts which means that your charts are no longer confidential. I believe that your privacy and safety comes first, so sharing your charts doesn’t work with the philosophy of my business.
